Multisensory System for Complete Immersion
Aardvark’s Immersa-Dome® is the ultimate platform for feeling completely immersed. The system’s unique hemispherical visual display fills the user’s front view and periphery. Instead of “watching” video like one would on a traditional flatscreen monitor, the dome delivers a sense of being “in” the experience. The experience is so immersive in the dome display that with appropriate content, the user could feel a sense of acrophobia when looking over a high cliff or claustrophobic when a person in the video is standing too close.
In a public space, the projected image can be seen on both sides of the dome so potential users will be attracted to it like a moth to light. Aardvark installs an attract loop video between users that acts as electronic signage.
In addition to the amazing visual, the Immersa-Dome experience includes time-triggered scents. More than five scents can be programmed to be activated and synchronized in one video experience. There is unlimited potential for embedding scents in an experience. When the video takes the user on a journey of zip-lining over the tops of pine trees, the user will smell the scent of pine. When the user sees an apple pie being taken from an oven, the user will instantly smell fresh baked pie. The scents will quickly dissipate before seeing the next scene.
Immersa-Dome is equipped with a breeze bar that delivers wind simulation. A stream of air blows in the user’s face perfectly timed to the video in the dome. POV motion video such as a car, boat, or skydiving scene will naturally trigger a wind effect. A scene of a meadow with trees swaying back and forth in the breeze will also trigger wind simulation for added realism.
During bumps, vibration and movement, the hollow-cavity Immersa-Dome seat contains a large subwoofer for the user to feel these sensations during the experience.
The Immersa-Dome seat is also equipped with powerful three-way speakers powered by an amplifier for realistic stereo sound.
For producing Immersa-Dome content, HD video and first-person POV perspective is preferable. With the cost lower for high quality video cameras than in the recent past, suitable video content for the Immersa-Dome is extremely cost-effective. For proper perspective in the hemispherical dome, Aardvark geometrically corrects the video and programs the video to be launched at the touch of a button.
The subject matter for content is limitless. Due to the Immersa-Dome’s ability to deliver realism and a sense of “being there”, a wide range of clients have chosen the Immersa-Dome to convey their experiential message. The Immersa-Dome has been used to educate a diabetic medical condition for a major pharmaceutical company. The US Army features adrenaline-pumping content in the Immersa-Dome to support their recruiting efforts at events and tradeshows. Whether the goal is to promote, educate, simulate or convey an idea, message, product or concept, the Immersa-Dome is the ultimate platform for immersion. The Immersa-Dome will deliver a memorable experience that will stick long after the event.
The Immersa-Dome is installed as a stand-alone or installed with multiple units in a tradeshow, event or mobile trailer. The footprint for the Dome Tower is approximately 3 ft. x 3 ft. The projector can be mounted from the ceiling, a wall or into a booth structure to eliminate floorspace. For locations when this is not practical, Aardvark offers a Projector Tower on casters so the system can be easily rolled and placed in practically any environment. The footprint for the Dome Tower with Projector Tower is approximately 3 ft. x 9 ft.
